If you already have a family room for more low-key activities, your living room can act as a more sophisticated setting for hosting and entertaining. You don’t see it as you walk in to the dining room because its behind the viewer when they walk in. I also might want to paint the ceiling in the dining room peony pink 🙂 i guess I’m eclectic/India influenced cottage :).Its kinda wild but it works so far. My breakfast nook is bright red from the chair rail up. It’s a very happy little room :D. I could use some new ideas on curtains too. Usually the interior design reflect our personality, but this doesn’t mean that we stop learning and improving. Very good tips and the one that I was looking for without knowing it (something felt wrong but I couldn’t put my finger on it, is the odd one – avoid putting things in pairs. After reading your 10 interior decorating mistakes, I began to have a different perspective looking towards my kitchen, my room and the whole expanse of my home. These tips a prefect for someone like me, whose decorating skills are limited to making sure the bed is in the bedroom, the dining table is in the dining room, and the range is in the kitchen! I was especially interested in the tips about how many inches above a table or sofa to place a picture, and about not ‘floating’ the rugs. It’s a big empty room with our desks lining one wall… It feels awkward to put anything in the empty space, but it looks so awkward with nothing there too…Moving the desks away from the walls though would result in tons of cords. I have bookmarked it as we are currently working our way around the house decorating room by room.
