Driveways are the first aspect of any home that people visiting might notice. Not only how you’ve built it, but how you’ve maintained is an aspect that makes or breaks the appeal of any driveway.
Almost everyone has come to the realization of the fact that resin is a great material to choose when it comes to selecting the right driveway material. In the time when the benefits of using resin to build the driveway are known to the general population, it is essential that all people understand the importance of using resin for driveways in comparison with other materials for the same purpose.
The resin is long-lasting material, does not fade its colour and requires minimum maintenance. It also lets the water seep into the underground water table and recharge it, apart from many other benefits.
Why you should not choose any other substance for driveways and only resin is well described below:
Resin vs. block paved driveways
There is the added labour of fitting each stone block into the other to form a pattern when it comes to block paving. The whole process can be even expensive, considering you have to get other raw materials like cement, limestone, and bricks, employ labour and masons to do the job for you.
In contrast, resin provides no such hardships and is a one-man job that can easily and cheaply be done.
If not fitted properly in the ground, the blocks may come out of their patterns and make gaps in the driveway. The resin is a coat that prevents this.
Also, the colour of the blocks fades after some time when it is subject to sunlight and water; which is not really an issue with resin who’s colour does not fade in years.
Most importantly, there is zero chance of weed growth in resin bound driveways, something which commonly happens with block paving.
Resin vs. Gravel driveways
In a country where it snows heavily, it is an important aspect to see whether the snow removal from driveways would be easy. Gravel makes this impossible. Shoveling may lead to rocks being exposed to the surface, something which is not ideal. On the contrary, snow removal is a left hand’s job with resin driveways.
Also, since gravel is not fitted in the ground and is constantly moving with the tyres of the vehicles on the driveway, it shifts over time. This shifting forms grooves and sinkholes in the driveway which creates bumps when driving. You have to constantly pour gravel over regular periods. Resin driveways are a one-time job and prevent all this.
Resin vs. Tarmac or Asphalt driveways
Tarmac driveways have been around for years before people realized the importance of a resin bound driveway.
The life of tarmac as a material for driveways is almost 50% in comparison to resin and it is also prone to weathering and wear & tear. Resin has a much greater life expectancy and is resistant to weathering, climatic conditions and is water friendly.
Repairing tarmac driveways is close to impossible and pretty expensive, given the big machines that are used to do it; resin, on the other hand, is a pretty easily maintained and repaired substance.
